The globe and mail blog posting is still ruining my paragraphs, so I'll repost it here for an easier read.
.....
Thanks John for the suggestion, but i have an interest in rational thought and when i see a social meme get out of hand, and my son might get confused about what is really going on in the worlds weather, I feel the need to show that not everything that gets put on paper or the new paper ' blogs' is necessarily fact.
But the "pro" (I'm not sure what they are supporting) 'side' other than increasing taxes, electricity prices and thereby putting people at risk for weather changes, through increases in unemployment and poverty has had plenty of time to comment on my remarks.
Oddly, I have not seen one detraction from my premises, yet.
I will not assume they therefore agree with me but I'm guessing they need some time to read up on vulcanism.
The problem with electricity if I can find one for this issue is the 'how to make it' rather than the 'how much to use'.
Geothermal solves it all and can kill most of us at the sme time, kind of handy that way.
Solar works pretty good to at warming things up and generating electricity.
I do take issue with the word 'greenhouse', we dont live in a greenhouse. A greenhouse is an enclosed space where we can control the environment inputs and outputs.
Economic forces will improve the effiencies of electronic equipment as a benefit to the consumer, although there are government regulations which are mandating lesser power usage.
One clear contridiction is the suggestion to reduce heating and lighting electrical usage but increase its usage in cars.
They really shuold look up terms like, fungibility and economies of scale before assuming the socially mandated meme decrease in electrical power will do anything other than make the IESO increase the prices over all.
Plants and equipment need maintenance whether they are running or not.
The earth can generate electricty for all, keep us warm and cool at the same time, we just need to know where to dig the pipes. http://stillunwound.blogspot.com/
